Your Mission, should you choose to accept it.......

Bad Gaming presents an X-Wing Miniatures Game Campaign: "Able Squadron"

Each player starts with 21 points. They can buy either an X-Wing, A-Wing or Y-Wing. You then play missions and collect extra points through killing Imperial craft and completing missions. There must be a minimum of 3 registered players to play a mission. 2+ using their selected fighters and one using the Imperials, who will always have at least equal points value of the Rebel players.

Bonus points are rewarded per following,

+1 pt Successfully completing mission objectives
+0.5 pt Destroying a TIE Fighter
+1 pt Destroying a TIE Advanced
+1 pt Destroying a TIE Interceptor
+2 pts Destroying a Freighter
+5 pts Destroying a Capital Ship

If your Fighter is destroyed during a mission, you roll an Attack Die. On a Critical result, your pilot is dead. You must start over. On a Hit result, your pilot is injuried. You lose 3 points off your total. You can go below 21 points on the roster as your total, but you'll still have 21 points to spend on a fighter in battles. After 3 Injuries, your pilot is retired. On any other result, you survive and are recovered.

You can fly off any table edge during a mission unless otherwise stated. Doing so means you survive the battle.

If a player gets 5 kills with their current pilot, they are classified as an Ace.  While this has no in game benefit, it marks them as the elite among the Rebel Alliance's starfighters.
Once a player gets 20 kills with their current pilot, they gain the Hero of the Alliance title. Heroes of the Alliance may choose one free, permanent Commendation upgrade card.

....And it Begins

Greetings fellow wargamers and welcome to the Plasti-Crack Wargaming blog. Over the coming eons we will bring you the latest news and information on upcoming, lesser known and existing miniature wargames, as well as wargame related topics.

Now that the formalities are completed lets begin with a Historical / Mythological game that is currently still under production and, at least I believe has a very bright future. This game is Arena Rex and is currently on Kickstarter, and is well past its goal for launch.

Arena Rex is a gladiatorial arena based historical wargame with mythological flavors thrown into the mix. It is of course a low model count skirmish level game and an IGOUGO system, which means minimal investment is needed to enjoy some intense and (if you use your imagination) cinematic matchups, which is a great bonus to any wargamer. I know I myself find it hard to keep shelling out the dough for the "Big Boys" in the industry, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

The game designers from Red Republic Games are boasting an easy to learn and intuitive game system using a combination of dice (d6) and card based stats and maneuvers. The card method for stats and special abilities is a feature steadily on the rise in the wargames industry, and its no wonder, to have all the info you need for any one model in your possession at your fingertips is nothing short of genius. We all have our systems that involve many different books and playing aides to play, but sometimes we just need something basic and streamlined. Stat cards give us this.

Miniatures. Yes, easily everybodies favourite element of any game is the physical avatar or representation of your guys from the battlefield. Sometimes you get a great system with frightful quality minis, other times you get a set of rules you would think twice about even using as toilet paper but the most gorgeous miniatures you may have ever seen. in the case of Arena Rex we will get the best of both worlds. Cheap and easy to learn game system accompanied by high quality and highly detailed 35mm scale resin masterpieces. Below is an image to put these miniatures into perspective with the leaders of the current wargaming meta.

If you would like to find out more information on this promising new game system simple head to www.arenarex.com where you can read a more in depth overview of the game system itself and a little bit about the world it takes place in.
